Not sure if this was one of the mashup assignments….
So, I taught myself how to mask a picture/video. I’m not that good but I did something simple. It was actually fun to do and I did so many of them as practice. This technique wasn’t bad, I had trouble changing the video dimensions to fit the image dimensions and vice versa so that’s why there are black bars on the side. I think when I resized it, it lost it’s resolution. so sad. I went to gimp to the mask. It was a kind of long process trying to make the sky transparent. And even though it’s only 10 seconds, it took me 2 hours to finish. But overall I am happy with the results.
HOW IT WORKS:
1.) I took images and videos from pexels.com
2.) I then opened GIMP and added a transparent layer and foreground (black).
3.) On the transparent layer, I color whatever I want to hide (mask) with white.
4.) I then export it as a png transparent image into the transitions folder of openshot.
5.) I open openshot and export the images and videos that I need and add them to the timeline. I then add the image that I partially masked (which is a transition now) and layer it over the original image. (the videos are layered below the the image
6.) I remove the keyframe of the image (transition) and put it to 0.
7.) I then resize the video (only if I need to) by rightclicking the video in the timeline, to fit the image.
8.) I then add the music from freesound.org
